Once again I come to the forum seeking assistance with a problem. Got a 13 YO player with terrible throwing mechanics. The two big problems I see but have not been able to correct are:
1. Does not push off sufficiently on her back foot when throwing and the biggest problem
2. Leads with her elbow when she throws.
The result is that her throws are generally weak and errant. She is our starting right fielder and is solid in every other aspect of the game, but I cringe in any situation where she has to make a throw.
I have tried to point out the problems in her mechanics and work with her. Quite honestly I don't know whether its a matter of her not wanting to try or if I'm just going about it all wrong. She is a skinny, long limbed kid with not too much meat on her bones. Please don't ask for video. She is not my dd and think she would be embarrassed if I posted video of her throwing on a national forum.
I am looking for ideas on drills or other techniques I can utilize from others out there who have had players with similar problems that they have helped overcome. Thank you!
