It's a useful tool, have one indoors, keeps the kids from moving their feet too much.

Dot Richardson used to stand at the plate, and use the bat head to draw an arc from the outside corner towards the pitcher as her reach would allow. She'd use this arc to determine tee placement relative to the strike zone. This was back in the white ball days so I'm not sure it's relative now, I'll go out and try it when it starts raining. At the very least, it should give you a decent point of reference.
