If you are fundraising for the coach, he/she can ask for it any way he/she wants.

If you are fundraising for the team, maybe not so much.

“This is a nice dugout you have here. I’d hate to see something happen to it.”

if 501C3 org, that's a huge no no.

And no way. check or credit payment. And honestly should be to treasurer or pres of ORG not the coach. Been coaching 6+ years and never handled a nickle of cash as player payment.

I manage a 501c3 and the vast majority of our donations & fundraising are in the form of cash.
Given it’s not a softball team or anything like that.

My good friend refuses to use any kind of payment app, like Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal. Every time he pays me for anything, it's by cash or check. Some people are just old school like that. If the person is someone you trust, I'd have no issue fundraising in cash.

the rules on it that I've seen, it's not to be 'touched by" coaches. Must be mailed, sent, whatever to Organization.
