If you are fundraising for the coach, he/she can ask for it any way he/she wants.

If you are fundraising for the team, maybe not so much.

if 501C3 org, that's a huge no no.

And no way. check or credit payment. And honestly should be to treasurer or pres of ORG not the coach. Been coaching 6+ years and never handled a nickle of cash as player payment.

My good friend refuses to use any kind of payment app, like Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal. Every time he pays me for anything, it's by cash or check. Some people are just old school like that. If the person is someone you trust, I'd have no issue fundraising in cash.

Those are likely organizational rules. I can’t find anything that states 501c3s can’t be given cash.

it's not the cash. It's whom that cash is given to as it comes into the 501C3 org.
