Could be "nothing" (read: sprain/strain that will resolve itself within 2-3 weeks), and as she gets older, she'll learn more about her body and be able to self-diagnose lots of minor injuries, but for today, get the x-ray and go see a doc. What you're describing could be 40 different things to 40 different readers.

Hammate injuries are common in baseball. This is a chance for her to develop her bunting skills and try to perfect the push bunt towards the 2nd base hole.
I'm no doctor, but I don't think it's a Hamate injury. The area of pain seems to be located in a different area, but like I said, I'm not sure. Hopefully something minor

Not sure if there is a specific place to post injuries? My DD suffered a hand injury while swinging the bat. It was a high and outside pitch that she chased and took a good cut at. The injury happened in the swing somewhere between contact and rolling over. She continues to play, but feels pain in the area illustrated below. There is a little bit swelling

She said she only feels pain there when swinging at bad pitches... I said maybe it's a good kind of pain, stop swinging at bad pitches. She wasn't impressed, lol. I understand that's kind of weird, but it seems to happen when she gets fooled. I am thinking it's when she has to use her hands more without the support of her body. Also I think she has a poor follow through which puts additional strain on her hand wrist. It's her bottom hand. I am thinking it's a strain of some sort or a torn ligament.

Has anybody ever experienced anything like this.. and what did you do to help recover?
What was the diagnosis on your daughter's hand? My son has pain in the same area same of the hand. His first diagnosis was Kienbock's and thank the Lord that was incorrect. He has been out of his sport for 3 months and looking for answers.

I haven’t thought of this in years, before me and my wife got married (2000) I was pretty much married to softball & golf!

I played golf 3 to 5 times a week, every week. I developed a pain in my left wrist at contact, it was bearable at first but eventually it felt like someone would hit me with a hammer on that exact spot where you have that “X” marked.

Saw several doctors, my regular MD was useless along with several “specialists“, this went on for a year, thought my golfing days were over!

One Sunday at church saw this old man named Jack with his wrist wrapped up, now this man is a nut, he’s hilarious, so I had to ask? Turns out he fell and broke a bone in his wrist. That opened the door for me and he gave me the name of a female hand surgeon here in our town. Made an appointment the next day!

Long story short, she ended up removing the Pisiform bone from my left wrist, BOOM…..pain gone!! She was honest, said she was grabbing at straws and took a chance, she had never done that specific surgery before for a golf / swinging type injury, the last time I spoke to her, she said she had done at least a dozen since mine!

She said the Pisiform is just one of those bones in the body that isn’t needed. And a prior injury or repeated use of the wrist and hand can inflame it, the strange part is the pain it caused at the spot you marked isn’t exactly where the Pisiform is, the pain radiated to there, that’s why such a hard diagnosis!

Hopefully this isn’t your DD’s problem, and it probably isn’t. But if you’re going to see a specialist I wanted you to have this information, you never know?

Sounds like she needs to see a doctor. There are so many small bones, ligaments, and tendons in the hands that it isn't possible to diagnose without an xray and a physical examination. Even though it only hurts occasionally, I would have her checked by a doctor.

And if the X-ray doesn’t show anything and there’s still pain, please go straight to requesting an MRI. That’s what revealed my son’s hamate fracture. And X-rays won’t show tendon or ligament damage.
