I watched Hudgens short swing video and like most short swings discussions, he claimed most with a long swing do not do good at the upper levels. He showed and discussed a short swing and a long swing being something where the barrel gets away from the back shoulder early.
I'd be curious what Hudgens promotes for helping players develop a 'short swing'.
From my perspective, if you get the basic sequence correct ... not simply 'walking away from your hands', but also the overlapping action of the front-side opening as the rear shoulder/arm moves back, then a 'short swing' will often be a 'result'.
