Just saw on MLB Network that the RBI World Series is gonna be on Tues. @ 10:30 am (Today). The programing note says it being played at Cedar Hills, Texas.
I got some flyers a couple of years back about umpiring for a new league that was supposedly forming called RBI. As I recall it is some co venture with some ex pro players and MLB and I think RBI is an acronym for Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities. Other than getting the flyers I dont recall anything every happening or seeing anything about games.
It's Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities, pretty much MLB teams and Minor league teams sponsor a tournament team of girls who live in inner cities and may not have the opportunities to play tournament ball (they also have a tournament abseball component). MLB hosts a regionals and the winners play in thier nationals. Unfortunately from what I have seen like most things it doesnt work the way its supposed to and a lot of teams aren't comprised of inner city players.
