Alicia Hollowell pitched 4 games in a row for me in a 18G National Qualifier in Stockton on Sunday back in the day. We qualified because of it.
Oh wait. Wrong topic. Sorry.
What are the long-term effects of throwing 400+ pitches in a single day??? For example, when they are in their 30's or 40's?
The reason I ask is that many coaches go for the short term return (winning tournaments) and forget the long-term consequences of over pitching their players? I posted an example of how a 12U coach pitched my DD 3 straight games of a PGF qualifier, back-to-back-back (with a ITB 9 innings the last game) and her arm was sore and hurting her the last few innings and she continued to pitch. Only time I felt the need to ice her arm after the game. It was sore for 3 days and she was in no condition to play the next day, forget pitching. To top it off, the coach never even warmed up our second pitcher all day, even though she was very comparable to my DD in talent. Idiot coach.
