Not saying I WHOLE HEARTEDLY agree with the "no pick-up" policy. Just saying how we've handled it. We are not in a weather challenged area, so that's not the case. At 10 YOA, I do have to say that if someone goes and plays for another team, and coach starts coaching all kinds of nonsense into a girl, it could do some serious damage. Not saying we're always right, but there are plenty of teams down here that don't have enough players (and it's for a reason mind you) that grab girls from all over, and start yelling all kinds of craziness at them from the dugout. 10 year old girls are VERY impressionable. Hate to see good habits turned into bad ones cause a girl decided to go pick up with a team that's got a coach with less than average verbal cues/teaching methods.

Other considerations for your team/player "contract": how you handle girls playing for other teams when you're not playing. Do you allow it? Is there a certain protocol? As coach do you reserve the right to add or modify rules during the season? If a player loses or destroys equipment or uniform beyond normal wear and tear is their a responsibility attached? Any other "options" to consider adding to a team/player agreement? Also, do you want to address rec league participation while your team's travel season is underway? All things that could be addressed in advance with the use of a written agreement.
