Obliques

I am confused about the obliques. Does a batter have to actively engage the obliques or are the obliques used "natively" to move the hips?

I feel like I am trying to move my ears when I try to consciously engage the obliques.

Listen to the pro's....what ever the pro's say about using their obliques during their swing has got to be right.
Can't go wrong listening to the pro's........

They are used but to use W=w's logic I never hear pros talking about using them...

Some but few do it naturally (lack body awareness).. Here is an example of clinching the obliques while attempting to rotate.
