We played in a tournament this summer called National All star tournament. During pool play the coach from each team was asked to select 2 "All Star" players from the other team. The 2 players from each team that had the most votes at the end of the tournament were then placed on the "all star teams" and they had an all star game. These players are also invited to play in Florida in January.

Has anyone taken their daughter to the Florida games at the Boombah complex in Orlando? If so what is your thought on the tournament and games?

The fee for the All Star tournament is $295. Girls get 4 game guarantee(weather permitting), 2 jerseys, rings.

Is this an elaborate recruiting tool? "Let's get all the best girls from several teams and start a super team, then suddenly they don't want to play with their regular team"

My DD was selected for the after tournament all star game and hit a home run during the all star game. Her and her team mate accounted for all 4 runs in the all star game. We are considering going to the Florida tournament in January.

It can be fun and if you are looking for a vacation in Orlando it can be a good time. Soldiers Creek Boombah is a nice set of fields. Some of our team live locally and have filled in when they were short a player or two.

But it is what it is - some fun. Maybe you meet some interesting people. Play some softball with some kids from other places. If you are looking anything beyond that you will probably be disappointed.

They talk about 'media coverage' - on the boys side they have a magazine and whatever but that stuff is all just an ego trap for parents. Shouting into the wind type stuff.
