Saw Cameron Maybin on MLB this morn and he credited Mitch for helping him and that he is seeing a hitting coach in California but I could not hear his name clearly. Here are some quotes and thoughts from Mitch:
"I'm not really trying to hit a fly ball," he said. "I like to think about trying to hit a line drive over the center fielder's head… I know some guys around the league after at-bats will go look at what their exit velocity and launch angle were. For me, I know when I hit the ball hard, and when it's a line drive, it's going to be a good launch angle. So I don't need to go look at data for that.
"I read Bobby Tewksbury's book on hitting mechanics and in the offseason going into it I knew what changes I wanted to make. I went with my good friend Daniel Descalso and we worked with a guy named Matt Lisle.
A true student of the game and deep thinker, Haniger doesn't even look at confidence as an emotional thing.
"I get my confidence through the effort I put in the weight room and cage."
