To all who have posted on this thread. If a pitcher leans way forward, 90 degrees or more, and then springs forward as she is coming back up; this is referred to as a 'Forward dip'.

The forward dip was specifically named by ortho surgeons as the responsible act in causing stress fractures in the lumbar spine. This was around 10 years ago if I recall correctly, and first came to light in the news in one area of Pennsylvania.

Come to find out, a handful of those young ladies all had the same instructor and ALL the pitchers did the 'Forward dip' as a pre-motion.

If this sounds like what your instructor teaches, it has been deemed an unsafe motion and is considered dangerous.

Proceed with the instructor at your own peril.
