If anyone knows I would appreciate. DD is a college pitcher and was told by her coach that her glove is illegal because it has red in it like the seams on the ball. Sounds kind of dumb but I know there can be some very dumb rules. She has a solid black in her bag at all times just in case. We are starting our conference playoffs and coach told her to wear her black one because she may get ejected if someone challenges it. Sounds like a harsh punishment. It really is not a big deal and she could care less which glove she uses. I'm just curious what the rules are.

Since she is a pitcher it looks like it is illegal by ncaa rules.

The catcher may wear a leather glove or leather mitt of any dimension.
Gloves/mitts worn by players may not be the color of the ball but may be
any combination of other colors. The pitcher’s glove and its lacing shall be
tan, brown, gray, white or black, or any combination of those colors. The
manufacturer’s logos are not considered a glove color.

Its only an ejection if the umpire orders it removed and it reappears.

EFFECT—(3.7.1 to 3.7.2)—If noticed before a play, the umpire shall direct
the fielder to remove the glove/mitt. Should the illegal glove/mitt
reappear, the offending player shall be ejected. (Administrative
ejection; see Rule 13.2.1.)
If a play is made with the illegal glove/mitt, the glove is removed
from play and the offensive coach has the choice of taking the
result of the play or having the play nullified. If nullified, the
batter returns to bat, base runners return to the bases occupied
at the time of the last pitch and play is resumed.

Thanks, couldn't find the punishment anywhere. So a smart coach would wait till she fielded a ball for an out then challenge to get another AB. Have you ever seen a glove challenged

But it is not illegal for the reason the coach offered.
