I know it's been discussed on here at length, just wondering if anyone has suggestions as to a batting order for my team based on their AVG and OBP to date. I just updated the stats and saw some things I hadn't seen before. I put their current position in the batting order (CBO) in parenthesis. A and B have the best slugging pct too. C is probably the fastest baserunner. M is one of the fastest also and in practice can crank the ball but not in games.

player AVG OBP
A (4) 714 750
B (3) 667 719
C (1) 480 552
D (8) 364 533
E (2) 364 500
F (5) 333 471
G (7) 292 346
H (9) 238 500
I (11) 231 583
J (12) 227 393
K (13) 211 423
L (10) 185 290
M (6) 167 375

when I played slow pitch we arranged the batting order by height a couple of times. Other times by the order we showed up to the game. Alphabetical was used several times as well.

Paying for your lunch could also move a kid up in the order, free drinks back at the hotel are a big plus!

Seriously, I always had to take into consideration foot speed. I hated to have a speedster batting behind a turtle and that happens if you bat the slowest kid last.

IMHO, speed is a critical factor also. If you have a group of kids that are all between .300 and .400, have similar OBP....don't have your slowest hitters grouped together! We ran into that this weekend, had 4 slowest in a row, and it changed the dynamic of the game. Had to play base-to-base and hit away, small ball was not going to do any good. You also get a feeling after a while of who your clutch hitters are...maybe they aren't in the top 3 in BA, but you know that down 1 with a runner on 2nd they are going to hit a ball in the gap. That might influence your decision also.
