A successful lead-off bunt. I don't think anyone had bunted on this team the entire weekend. The catcher and the entire infield stood there and looked at the ball. Nobody moved. She could have run straight to second.

I've seen those used before to mark the box corners. Very effective.

Yeah, should have been an easy out. I cringed when I saw that ball drop and stop. I had noticed before the game that the infield surrounding home was pretty powdery and that she would need to push the ball further towards the pitcher. On any of the other normal hard-pack infields they usually played on, that same bunt would have rolled to second.

The pink markers are plastic plugs used to mark the batting box corners. They were also used to mark the pitching rubber locations as well as first, second, and third base post-hole locations. Usually around here the plugs are white or yellow and you still have to dig for them as they are rarely that perky.
