Hello everyone. My dd has been asked by her high school coaches to start pitching. She was playing around with one of her friends at practice and the coach saw her and talked to her about. She will be getting lessons from one of the coaches but would like to be able to keep working at home also. I realize that I know enough to keep my mouth shut but could anyone give some tips on where to even start?

Fantastic people here to help. Check out IR in the classroom thread. Great stuff. All the sticky's are a must read if your gonna pitch.

Read through at least 3 pages of the top 3 topics on the forum below. Reading more is better but it is information overload as a bucket parent!

If you study video of the top female pitchers in the world, I/R style pitching is the most effective way to pitch.

Yeah, just start reading and watching videos. I'm still semi-clueless even after all these months but always trying to learn more. It's so fun to watch them progress!

Start reading the pitching forums as suggested above, and also please be sure that the coach giving lessons is not on the "hello elbow" track. This is very important. If he is, then I suggest finding a pitching coach outside of the school that teaches I/R (internal rotation) pitching.

Good luck and be ready for lots of practice!! :)

IDK the HS coach should keep her pretty busy. I do not think I would read up on pitching until after the HS season is over. I would just get about a ½ a dozen balls and a bucket to sit on and catch her if she asks. Let the HS coach and her decide what to work on.

When is the HS season? Fall or spring?

Fall season started last week. This is her first year playing school ball. She is receiving a lot of good feedback from coaches but they keep moving her around and hasn't really had any playing time yet. This just came out of the blue Sat.
