Kinda like the Olympics. 😉

Oh do NOT start me on that Topic 😂😂

USA and USA A (aka Mexico)

I almost wish Puerto Rico had made it instead. At least they’d actually be Americans.

If I didn’t adore the Canadian players so much I’d have wanted both Mexico and Puerto Rico to make it. Just to show thte absurdity of the qualification rules.

3/4 of track athletes in the Olympics went to colllege and train in the US. Things like that, and what is being discussed here, are things we should be proud of, not bemoan.

I’m not bemoaning athletes training in America.

what I’m bemoaning is athletes who have never been to a country representing that country and taking the opportunity from a local.

the Mexican team who will be atthe Olympics are all American born players. Most hadn’t visited Mexico before they donned the uniform. The Great British team (who almost made the Olympics) was full of Americans, Australians and Canadians.

Fair enough. The games are a lot more competitive this way though which is better for the sport in general. Also in the long run a team like Mexico doing well with American born players could be beneficial for the local players in that country as it may generate more interest/support for the sport. I also don't blame the American born players for taking the opportunity when presented to them.
