My 6 year old dd, playing 8u is using an 11 inch glove. She is the size of the other 7-8 year old girls. Today at practice i was watching her catch and field her glove seems to small to me . I asked her about her glove not metioning the size and she said is small..... Her glove is broke in well and she can catch and feild top on her team. It just does not look like the ball sit in her glove well enough. My question is , should i try bigger ?

11 3/4 or up to 12 1/4 seems to work best at this age depending on hand size. Go check out the difference in the store.

When my DD was playing 8U (with 10" ball), she used an 11.5" glove. Her teammates were all in the 11.5"-12" range.

In 8U mine used a 12". We actually got her an 11.75 for her most recent though (she's in 10U now). She likes the feel of a smaller glove.

My DD progressed from a Rawlings FP110 (11") at 6 and 7yo to a Rawlings FP115 (11.5) at 8yo. Light and a real easy glove to use for a young kid. Only paid $30 to $35 for them a few years ago. At 10 she now uses a Mizuno MVP Series 11.5".

My DD was 9 when she started FP and finding a 12" that she said wasn't too big was like pulling teeth.
She tried on dozens of gloves. Every one spread her fingers too much.
I couldn't imagine finding anything in bigger than a 11 1/2" for a 6yo.

I'll go counter to what everyone else is saying. Lighter & smaller are good at this age, especially with an 11" ball. Who cares what it looks like if she's making the plays with it.

On DD's team, they practice and train with 10" undersized gloves that have the tiniest pockets. Why? To get them to focus on catching and fielding very cleanly. That way when they use their normal fielding gloves in games, it feels as big as a fishing net. They don't have large gloves compensating for skills development.

So at 6yo, I would keep her in an 11" until moving up to 12" ball. She'll be a better fielder in the long run for it.
