Funny Story

During a middle school game the visting team was batting and there pitcher was due up to bat. I looked over and coming out of the dugout was the pitcher holding a bat and another girl walking toward home plate with her. I thought it look odd but I just keeped watching. The pitcher stepped into the batters box on the left side and the other girl stood directly behind her. The umpire ask her what she was doing and the coach stood up in the dugout and said "SHE IS MY COURTESY RUNNER".......I could not believe it, It was everything I could do to not laugh out loud. The umpire explained to the coach that pitcher has to get on base before you get a runner. I guess this just shows what we have for middle school coaches.
