Would anyone care to try to explain this; not necessarily pertaing to the Cubs? It can't be "Age". I don't think it is talent. I think it is technical and has parallels to softball.

"Per Statcast, the Cubs hit .255 (26th in MLB) with a .440 slugging percentage (28th) against four-seamers in the strike zone in 2020. In their two playoff games, the Cubs hit .138 (4-for-29) with a .241 SLG on four-seamers in the zone."

.260 (give or take a few points in each direction) is the major league average and had been the major league average since the dawn of time so that part of them hitting .255 makes sense. Playoff averages are usually worse because the pitching is better - which is how that team got to the playoffs in the first place.
