The ones that are circled could be legit. You can't pencil whip HR's. BUT look at those K's. My take on this. Iowa's premiere players are playing TB during the summer and are foregoing HS ball. The best pitchers are also not playing HS either. Yes the hits very well could be legit as well as the HR's but who are they hitting against???? I've seen plenty of strong girls whack the ball over the fence every other AB against front toss, but when they face someone throwing 60 plus, K city baby.

One of my points a few months ago, is you should have a certain number of AB's for your stats to count towards All Conference Awards. A .576 avg with 63 AB's vs a player who hit .427 with 120 AB's should not be given preference over the 2nd batter. IMO.

The tracking site has a minimum of 46 at bats to be valid. I know of the girl that hit 19 HRs; She is a stud.

For sure there are girls 'missing' from Iowa HS. But her team is 4A (second largest class in Iowa) and the conference she is in is stacked - not many easy games there. They do play up and down from their class, so maybe some inflation to her stats, but she is a University of Iowa commit and will be interesting to see how that translates to the college game.

My dd did hit over .600 her senior year of HS. Coach kept the book. She was a slapper with good speed so at the HS level, she beat out a lot of ground balls. Her team played in an “ok” conference. Definitely not the strongest.

Her last year of TB she batted over .400 and they played a competitive schedule. A mix of top teams in our region, good teams, and some “ok” teams.

Her freshman year of college this year she batted over .400 which lead her team in a strong D3 conference.

I’d say to take HS averages with a grain of salt. TB probably is a better indicator if they play on a good team against above average competition.
I compared my daughter's TB team from our TB stats and their HS stats. Most of them hit about 100 pts better in HS than TB as a point of reference.

Still, if your hitting over .600 in TB, somethings very interesting there.

From her bio...she did...incredible. Based on her performance the last couple of years, that HS number could easily be legit.
With her being a triple threat I can easily see it. How many HS SS are going to be able to throw her out if she beats one into the ground towards them?

Compare it to the other High School stats numbers in the same league. Either everyone's hitting like that or they're not playing against competition.

There are certainly some high schools in this area that will post ginormous hitting stats because the other high schools simply are not competitive for them. ( these pitchers will also post amazing strikeout numbers playing against lesser Talent)

All based on competition ability. Generally in high school there is a mixture of talent levels. Lack of pitching is a common denominator to puffy hitting statistics.

There are batters that can do a great job and be outstanding obviously we see those type of players in college performances. But High School is nowhere near equivalent in Talent Level Playing Equal Talent level.

Along with that there are some teams in high school that play everybody regardless of the goal to win or not.

Will add to this discussion that in showcase tournaments, where there are top tier teams playing against average teams, there will be an inflation of batting averages on the top tier teams because of the talent disparity.
Easy to see in a day. Vs the same team playing against another top tier team.

In other words You could look at another high school team entire roster statistics and see that nearly every batter is hitting below .200

But may have a couple standout players who probably play travel ball for some years.

So, back to my original point - it's hard to believe that there are very many DD (as some here have claimed) that are batting over .600 with their travel teams...
