In watching videos of various pitchers and working with DD on front side resistance, I got to wondering:

Is there a range of acceptable front side resistance?
Does it vary by Body type (build, height, weight, etc)

Here are two examples from elite pitchers....

It has as much to do with proper timing as it does a degree of resistance. The player needs enough time to create resistance... or firm up, if you will. As a general rule of thumb, I would say that a player needs to become proficient in keeping their body from needing to take a step forward after the pitch... all the while preventing the nose from getting in front of the belt buckle. Over the belt buckle is perfect for a drop... and just slightly behind it is all you need for a rise.

Tell you what..... Watch them both (Ueno and Abbott) doing this 9:00 to release adduction (elbows to sides) AND front-side resistance and core tightening over and over and over again. Emulate either, or some combination of both, and you'll be doing pretty darned good.
