On the ASA fielding video Candrea does have his outfielders doing a crow hop drill. As for using it all the time I think if you are playing on a runner then it does give you an advantage. The downside is you are much more likely to have a ball go past you and if you aren't playing on a runner then the risk is to great for the reward.
