Crazy High Batting Averages

My DD is playing her first year of 10U travel (B-level, but they don't really advertise that distinction around here). She is hitting a little over .500 with good power (we have a pretty fair bookkeeper in terms of errors vs. hits). Got me to wondering what people have seen at various travel levels in terms of girls hitting for crazy high batting averages, or even crazier on-base percentages.

I am sure there are current or former SEC girls that hit .700 or more growing up in travel ball. Anyone have any good stories to share? How high can you go?

We had a kid who hit 750 in 12U A ball. Struck out 2 times in 12 tournaments. Great pitcher too.

You can say average doesn't mean anything, but when someone's hitting 750 I can assure you they are dominating. This kid is amazing.

Canyonjoe, I deleted my posts before you responded. They weren't on topic. I remembered that a player had 3 k's in an entire season, looked it up to confirm it and then I got really, really sidetracked which is just like me.

Yes, a kid hitting .750 is spectacular. I just don't believe avg deserves the weight some people give it and because all scorekeepers are different it can be hard to compare apples to apples.

DD hit between .600-.800 in MS this year ??? Waiting for the banquet to get the real #'s.... Her coach is math teacher, who keeps his own scorebook... during the games

I didn't keep my DD's MS BA this year but I do know we got 1 hit 3 times and she was the only hit. She hit over .700 in school ball last year as a 7th grader. She has hit over .340 the last 2 years in TB A/B. I had a girl last season (who just came back to the team last night) that hit .456 in A/B OPEN ball but she was so fast she bunted nearly every time up. 12U it works almost every time, 14U NOT SO MUCH lol.

My dd has had several seasons of hitting 500, add in walks and her OBP is at 620 this season.

Last year in 34 HS games she had 25 walks and 3 Ks, 2 looking at balls chin high. Her travel season she had 60 games, with about the same numbers 3 Ks and 25 BB.

Not many and not for long, IMO. To play that level, I would think you need to find competition that won't let you hit .700.

My daughter has played 6 seasons of travel ball, and I think two or three teammates have hit around .500-.525. That's about as high as I've seen. DD has hit .570 in middle school ball, but that's half travel/half rec.

My DD hit .617 with zero k's in MS ball last year but there is a huge difference between MS pitching and travel/HS pitching she saw this year.
