When I was growing up (age 10 to 15), I was not able to be on more than one team or compete in more than one sport at any time, and certainly not the way kids are over-scheduled these days. My parents both worked, and if I wanted to get to a mid-week practice after school I rode my bike. No way I was going to make it to multiple practices/commitments in a day.

Is it the cheer coach or the parent you have an issue with?

As the parent of both a cheerleader and a softball player, I have seen last-minute changes one both sides of the fence. I will agree, however, that cheer seems to do it more than softball.

My daughter is both softball player and cheerleader. Unfortunately, the cheer leaders often get booted from their designated practice space for other sports/activities. This is especially true if it rains and the football or baseball teams need the gym.
