Let’s here them! We all know timing is probably the most critical aspect of hitting but we discuss it the least. When timing is off, the body does so many negative things to get the barrel to the ball. So let’s here what y’all got. I’ll start:

Set up a tee with a screen in front. Have a coach/player go through a pitching motion and have the player hit off the tee. Let the player give feedback on early, late, or on time.

I use a Speed bat with XLR8 balls. You throw the balls with the same arm action and the weight of the balls is different, so you get different speeds. You can tell them what is coming to start and the balls are different colors so they can see what is coming.

You know what's interesting some times is front-toss but very slow-lobbed, with some air under it. Not to fool them but to have them figure out how to wait, when to load and how to generate power. And have them hit that lob pitch oppo too.

Yes lob ball is good for timing as well. They can't start the swing or break down within the swing. They have to stay back and swing without breaking down in the sequence.

I've been using this drill a lot with my dd and it seems to be helping her slapping and hitting away.

I use the Jugs machine. Make a full arm circle with the right hand while feeding the ball with the left to emulate the pitcher's circle for timing. We'll hit a bucket or so at 54, a bucket or so at 60, a bucket or so at 48 and then a few more around 56.
