What kind of drill for new pitcher to help sequence leg drive and arm getting in sequence with leg for maximum velocity?

Have her work on K's and Half K's. You can go to youtube and see the videos. Basically, the K is: start the arm at 12 o'clock and do her windmill from that position and release the ball followed by "slamming the hips shut" on follow through.

Leg drive: Have the new pitcher stand on her left leg (for righties) and then do her windmill to the catcher.

What good is it to slam the hips shut after release? The ball is gone.

Varies from style to style.

Closing some say to be in a ready position for fielding, others that the last leg push close could genetate a faster armspeed on the downward part of the arm circle (whip motion), or closing can help prevent leaning too far forward at release point.
