Another ASA Division

Ajaywill had good information, because I just noticed that the 16U Gold dates and location have been posted on the ASA website. 16U Gold nationals will take place in OKC the same week as 18U Gold (7/20 - 7/26).

ASA published the 2014 Code changes and JO Berth Report (12/5). There will be 48 berths for 16G and they are being evenly distributed this year to the territories (12 each) to be awarded at their national qualifiers. The berths will be distributed by participation in future years with the top 2 getting 16 berths and the other 2 getting 8.
Note: All the Gold territory qualifiers are now national qualifiers (i.e. open to all teams).

That's what 18 gold used to be anyway, the tournament directors found out they could make more money by having 16u showcases and it diluted the talent pool.-W

The majority of the blame is on the college coaches who started recruiting freshmen and sophomores in high school. If the college coaches are going to show up at 16U showcases, that is what the tournament directors are going to deliver.
