The BIG development is that her blocking skills are fully switched on. Two weekends ago, she cleared the hurdle of being able to execute blocks in game situations, and it's been awesome seeing how much of a difference it makes for her team. An added bonus for her team is that the other starting catcher (also NECC-trained) is also blocking effectively. The two of them call games "block parties".

Nice stance. Block Party On, Dudes!

Here is pic of DD framing up a low inside pitch during the Jr. Sparklers tournament in Colorado this past summer.

Not exactly an "action" shot, but I thought it fitting for the thread. My DD took a foul off her bicep last weekend. This pic was about an hour later, after the game, and you can still see the marks of the stitches. A catcher's "badge of honor"...

I am new to the group and DD is relatively new to catching. Eager to learn!

Welcome to DFP!! :)

One of the VERY (I can't stress "very" enough) best things you can do for your DD is to get the instructional DVD from New England Catching Camp (The New England Catching Camp). Most of us (the DFP parents of catcher-beasts) consider this DVD to be the "gold standard" for proper catching techniques. It will help your DD become more efficient and effective behind the plate, and stay much safer while doing it.
