14u or U14?

In your area, how does the bulk of your softball world refer to age grouping? For example, is it 14u or U14? Around here, most people refer to it as 14u. Some people get really annoyed when you put the "u" first. I also know, around here, soccer refers to their groupings as "Uwhatever", putting the "u" first.

I know, stupid question, but it's late winter, we lost 1/3 of our team to school ball, and I'm dying here...

I read 14U as 14 and under.

I read U14 as under 14.

Could be a big difference depending on birthday.

When my DD was playing AAU basketball and volleyball she was allowed to play with her classmates (she is an October birthday, so even though she is a '98 birthday she is HS class of 2017). Softball does it strictly by birth year, so 90% of her teammates are the class of 2016.
