Our team is an ASA B registered first year 12U team; which is appropriate to our skill level. We have an opportunity to play in a fall tournament, which only has 4 teams thus far, half of whom we should be able to beat (i.e. weak field). This tournament is a USA / ASA qualifier with 2 bids. Here's the question: if we somehow manage to get a USA bid, does this affect our B classification and disqualify us from competing in B tournaments for the season?

If you qualify for ASA Nationals why would you want to play another B-level tournament? Go play A-level and get ready for nationals. You do not get better playing weaker teams.

Thanks for the response. While I agree with the sentiment, we are a better than average B team, at best (just don't have the pitching to compete at that level). We would never consider a USA qualifier, but we have been offered to enter this tournament for a reduced fee, due to so few teams that have entered. For us, it is more game reps, but not sure if it will cause us problems with our schedule if things went well enough for us to actually get a bid; hence my question. There is zero chance we would go to an A national. Anyone know what the rules are?

From what I understand, as a B team- you can always play up or in open tournaments. You just can't play below your registered level.

Simply turn down the bid. It will awarded to another team.

Okay, it turns out tournament is eastern / northern ASA A qualifier. I know, as a B team, it is no problem playing up. If we win a bid, is it good for either A or B eastern / northern nationals?
