That time of the year again for us...school ball. Tryouts start this month on the 14th. Should be interesting. Last year, D team surprisingly got knocked out of the playoffs quite early. They had the entire squad back from the prior year where they made it to the state semi-finals. Going into playoffs, they decided to bench D and bring the JV pitcher with them instead. They figured since she went undefeated and throw some no hitters in JV, she would be the better choice with their other 2 main pitchers. I was happy that she got the opportunity but sad that is was at D's expense.
We had 6 girls graduating, 2 of them pitchers. Last year JV will be bringing 2 solid pitchers to go alone with the other 3 returning varsity.
Since last year school, D had a lot of success with travel. Her team moved up into the A bracket...the pitchers average only 1.5 runs against them...D's batting average was .440...while her bat is good, she won't be able to compete with the power her school ball team has when it comes to batting. She said she gained an ego, I told her success will bring confidence. With this newly found confidence, hopefully her Senior year of school ball will be a great experience.
Also, they are now part of a newly formed 4A conference...it looks to be very competitive with some great teams.
