So this past weekend in our local 16B tournament we ran into 3 crow hoppers. I was actually pretty surprised because I only noticed about 3 all year last year. You all know me on here I'm a rule follower and I want it fair and it drove me NUTS, haha. There actually was one IP called on the worst offender for her big leap she was taking at first along with the crow hop. After this she did keep it lower to the ground but continued to crow hop.
So I had video of a gal from last year at the end of the season at the same facility, as well as videos of 2 of the 3 gals this past weekend and I sent them off to someone in the organization along with my frustrations and concerns. I assumed my email would just get deleted and possibly not even read. Just some crazy looney who is mad their daughter's team didn't win. But instead if got a GREAT reply!
I got someone who cares. Who understands the subject. Who is aware of the national situation. Who is trying to do something and has a position to help in their sphere. He is planning a newsletter to the coaches and umpires addressing the issues and raising awareness!!
I share this to encourage others to possibly start small and take the time to point out the problem when you're not in the heat of the moment. Local organizations? umpires? Who knows the rules may change we'll all be on here figuring out how to pitch like the men and Barnhill, but in the mean time I'm glad I spoke up.
