I had heard this talked about before on this forum about learning to throw underhand before learning to pitch. Although this was something I don't think my DD was ever taught to do at a younger age, I got to watch her do this with her new pc the other day. They started out warming up overhand and then her pc told her to throw it to her underhand. She transitioned easily from the overhand motion to the underhand motion and finished her warm up in this way. I can see why young pitchers would benefit from learning to do this before adding in the whole pitching motion.

Long toss is something she has done but not with this pc because of lack of room. I'm going to have her do it at home when she practices though.

If she wants to get good, I mean really good, she needs to do it every time she sets foot on the field.

My DD always did it underhand. She would back up and have to pitch it to her catcher and keep backing up until she couldn't get the ball there anymore.
