I think it is because they don't bring the ball-in-glove together, pointed towards the target as far as they can. (parroted)

I think it's because their handlers are lame. I think it because they don't work @ it hard enough....ect

I have seen alot of pitchers in video and in person over the years. EVERY crow hopper I have ever seen had the skippy drive mechanics :( I HAVE never seen an athlete with the drive mechanics that javasource teaches have a crow hop :) Leads me to believe That the hitch in the arm is the result of poor drive mechanics not the cause of a crow hop :)

We agree on that ! You won't see to many excessive swimmers w/ the crow hop problem either. Its the balancing of weight issue. If you explode (Via JS~DM) keeping the ball-in-glove together and to the target, you'll find control, and be dragged out of the crow-hop by the weight of hands & momentum of a drive.

You get it.

You want to get rid of the crow hop, replant and second push off than make sure the toe of the pivot foot is pointed down, with the laces pointed to the catcher and dragging lightly away from the pitching plate. Impossible to crow hop in this position.

No amount of arm circle hitches are going to CAUSE you to crow hop and create a second impetus if you properly drag the toe so it's not weight bearing.

Try it yourself if you don't believe me. You arm circle hitch guys are focusing on the wrong part of the body.

I agree that it may not be a hitch. But a crow hop is certainly a timing issue and a mechanical nightmare. I don't think you can fix a crow hop. Rather tear the house down, start from scratch and learn to pitch.

I would love to see a girl with a crow hop speed up her circle... and stop hopping. Calling BS on that one. Meaning... show us the before and after clips.

You can do the circle faster, but that doesn't change the range of motion in the shoulder.

The crow hop is the result of an association the pitcher learns with getting open... and out. The "hitch" is the result of this open torso position... and the excessive movement of the humerus in the rotator cuff.

Rise... knightsb posted a girl recently with text book crowhopping. One could argue she's not getting called illegal... so it is not... but as they say on ESPN... come on, man! ;)

If you compare her sequence to Cat's... you'll see a different sequence of lower extermity movements... and IMO, this is where the "fix" or focus should remain... with the understanding that Cat is as good of a correction as you're going to get.

My point was that the crowhop is typically preceding by a leap, making the crowhop a moot point. I have not seen a pitcher crowhop without leaping but I will check out the posts by knightsb. :)

Not seeing where anyone said speed up arm circle ??????? Not seeing anyone trying to BS ????? Not me anyhow...never had that (crow-hopping) problem... It comes with pushing the kid for more speed. I'm guessing someone gets higher numbers on their radar, then think they can backwards chain it out before it starts getting called an IP...14U???

I did fix one of our pitchers last summer... the night before our NSA All-Star 14U Tournament.

I got ya.... Guess I don't count her.....I know it is a mis-quote of him. He does work in that umbrella of thought. Not speeding up the circle though. I think his view is published on a DVD that is just for fixes... ???

is-tuit

What is Tuite?

Tuite basically means grabbing/gripping hand. In karate, it is the art of joint manipulation and grappling. While karate does place a strong emphasis on striking, it is also understood that combative situations often involve ‘entanglements’ wherein it would be necessary to manipulate your opponent, causing them pain, dysfunction, and loss of balance.

My fix I was talking about in last post, was to tell the girl to stop doing the Walk Thru, and do the 2Step.... after explaining that we were not playing on our Rec. field, and it was NSA in another town, and she would get called. She was even called in our rec... Once I showed her the 2Step, no more problem... Afterwards... I know I went on the record here (somewhere) as saying I would never have my DD do the walk thru again, and only the 2Step... and that's what I did.
