You may be surprised how little D1 coaches actually know about best practices when it comes to mechanics.

I would arrange my lineup top down by OPS and ignore the rest, lol!

Ding,ding,ding!! Not saying speed/small ball isn’t a weapon only that Gasso has her pick of players and decided to put together a team full of kids who mash…

Yeah..I am sure the .778 Slg. % is due to all those balls in the 5-6 hole they beat out...
Other than Coleman, none of them have elite speed.

Interestingly Gasso set her batting order similar to what DD's coach does , batting Jennings first (who had the second highest OPS on the team). DD's coach last spring hit their best hitter, who gets a ton of extra base hits, first. That said he needs (imo) to change who is hitting 2nd as she is no Alo...

This Fall he did alternate the leadoff spot between her and DD (who runs much better and hit in the 4 hole for most of the Spring) but only because DD actually starting hitting a lot better towards the end of spring.
