There truly are two independent engines. The second-engine responds/reacts to the first-engine. How you go about getting the second-engine to respond/react is more important, IMO, than is going nuts with either engine.

You can. In fact, that is the objective for many that perform the neck slot drill.

I was assuming the thrust was the torso engine. Or is that what he is calling the pivot? I was assuming the pivot was the hand snapping backwards.

In watching this a few more times, it's not just a 'slide the bat off the shoulders while turning into the ball path' drill. I see now that he still is forcefully snapping (pivoting) hands as he tilts - creating the turn. I thought this was more of a stationary pivot point with hands at the shoulders.

I think i see the light.

Is there a specific feel she should get when doing this vs her current swing? I am confused on my DD however, i thought she still did have a turn, are you saying it isn't there at all? or it isn't tight enough, meaning hands not close enough to body? Just want to make sure what i am looking for.

Thanks again for the help. Hoping you dont bow out of the convo.
There are 2 pivot points. You are correct, 1 is the hands snapping backwards (hand pivot point). The other is the rear hip pivot point. The thrust is not necessary. The rear hip pivoting about the ball the ball of the femur is the 2nd pivot point.

I think you are understanding the HPP that I am referring to a little better. It's a violent turn and it is adjustable. You can swivel to different locations.

I would agree that your DD's turn (HPP) isn't tight enough. By not tight enough I mean the hands are moving in space and turning instead of just turning.

I also agree with some of the things you are saying in a different thread. A lot of the things you are seeing in great hitters are stylistic and not absolutes.

Bonds' initial barrel movements are part of his loading process. He's the GOAT. But those initial movements are pretty hard to duplicate and may not be best for everyone.
