I don't believe in your statement. The body is more important then the hands.

Now if you said the body is slaved to the hands and that the body supports or reacts to the upperbody program. Then I agree. It's called end gaining. In that you think about the end result, the upperbdoy or the end of the kinetic chain, and you allow the body to support the end of the kinetic chain. Using the body with no emphasis of the end result can create as many problems as it solves. So I agree with your statement, although the body is still the the power to the most distal segments (the hands/arms).

I think that the hand usage and body usage fall under "means whereby" rather than the "end gain", which is a powerful hit. Using the body with no emphasis on the end result is what would be necessary to focus on "means whereby".

My experience working with my daughters tells me that while coming up with an improvement like "turning the barrel" can also improve a supporting movement, it isn't necessarily going to maximize or correct the supporting movement fully. This dad is looking to improve some power. I don't think turning the barrel to get the body to support turning the barrel is the only answer. If that's the way the suggestions are going, would it be helpful to learn some stretch and fire related drill as well? Or something that helps utilize the big core muscles and backside? The young lady looks to rely a bit much on spinning off from momentum.

BM - TTB and SnF can be learned mutually. But, SnF alone doesn't automatically develop sound TTB mechanics. I have seen kids struggle leaving the barrel behind trying to use SnF
