"Pulling off the ball" can mean a ton of things. Rotating on back foot (squishing the bug) instead of driving out and shoulder angles just to name a couple. Rotating and not driving out causes early rotation of shoulders plus not good for plate coverage. Shoulder angles is another problem I see very common in female athletes. Too many times we hear the phrase "swing level". Well that is just ridiculous when we want our DDs to hit it out of the infield. We want that front shoulder down at gather to launch and then back shoulder down at contact. So during the swing that front shoulder goes up during our swing. Maybe "just swing the crap out of the bat" or "assassinate the ball" would work for cues? Just having a cold one... lol
I've seen the "not around the body" thing mentioned before, but not exactly sure what that means without seeing it (I swear like 90% of my struggle to understand hitting is just having no idea what the phrases/terms mean!). Anybody have an example of this? What's the opposite of "around the body" in this context?
CoachJD - Watch videos of top hitters an pay attention to the path of travel of the hands in relation to the centerline of the chest. It is not until well after the ball is long gone that the hands cross that centerline. The swing works "out from" the rear shoulder.
