It is not uncommon for a portion of the body to move in the opposite direction while attempting to apply force to move an object.

High level hitters often have their front hip rotating rearward as the barrel is swung forward.

It's perfectly normal to have a body segment moving in the opposite direction in which you are trying to move an object.

Notice here that the barrel is moving in the opposite direction as the young girl's head.

I have no issue with the head moving back as her body moves forward. It's the severity of the way it snaps downward. As somebody else in the thread mentioned, it looks like something could snap at any moment. I'm not a doctor either, :), it's just that movement looks a lot more severe than it needs to be.

The old Fred McGriff videos talked about head forward and back but not sideways. It may need to be calmed down to hit a moving ball but just to the level that you can hit a moving ball. Let her hit!

Her head actually is fairly motionless from a vertical standpoint up to contact. So I am sure she can hit, or she soon will be able to hit if she can maintain these mechanics in her game swing. My comments aren't toward how well the girl can perform, at such a young age, or any age for that matter, I think her swing looks great. I was voicing a concern that it looks unhealthy, injury inducing, JMHO.

Let me be more direct.

This girl needs to understand where in the swing maximum effort level should be, and learn the concept of 'releasing' into & through impact.

Wasn't directed at anyone. I have always taught head can move forward and back but not sideways.
