I should change the topic so it reads “DD Wants a New Bat Because Everyone Else is Getting a New Bat”

My older daughter (5'-3", moderately lean) used a 32/21 in her freshman year. Then she quit softball for cheer :(

No fear of quitting for cheer here - as good as DD is at softball, she is THAT BAD at anything that requires any rhythm or dance! LOL!

And like the OP...maybe I should clarify - DD doesn't want a new bat *I* want a new shiny bat! She hates new gear. GASP! I've been trying to get her to break in a new fielders glove and a new catchers glove for months now. I think I'm going to have to hide her old gloves...both of which NEED to be replaced!

Gloves are brutal to break in...I despise that over anything else. Or maybe because I like hitting and don't mind BP so its not like a job to break in a bat :)

So Cal
Thank you. I honestly just don’t know any better and I just discovered a few of her teammates got new bats, so I think it’s more of a want than a need.

This sounds a lot like you feeling compelled to keep up with the Joneses. You said in the first post that she loves her CF9. If that's the case, keep your money in your wallet, sit down, and enjoy the show. The best bat for her isn't the newest one, it's the one she she is confident having in her hands when she steps in the box. Spend the money on hitting instruction...or ice cream after the game.

Hahaha, its true...I know you're a glove guy

You are so used to and comfy with one, then your new one is foreign and stiff for soooo long. Lets go have a catch 9 million times :)

33 is too long for 5'4"

I think we moved from 31" to 32" when DD was ~5'4". FWIW

She is ~5'7" now, still using 32".

10 years old using a 33 inch bat, wow!. With that being said, nothing is written in stone. This bat should last her years and if she's hitting well with it, great! What would really suck is getting a new bat and your DD not liking it. If I were you, let her use that thing until she beats it to death.

Like others have said...it's really long. But if she is using it well more power to her. The bat itself will get better and better the more hits she puts on it, a new bat will have a break in time and may never be as good.
Get a magic eraser and clean it up, regrip the handle, and let it go.

I went and looked at her bat, and guess what, it’s actually 32”. I really need to go get my eyes checked. Y’all were making me nervous about it being too long for her, so I pulled it out of the bag to see the size instead of going with my obviously unreliable memory. She got money from her grandparents for her birthday and is still looking at bats. Can’t talk her out of it and it’s her money so...still looking.
