So a fat Napoleon, seems about right

I understand you're being glib, but the idea that Napoleon was short isn't accurate. He was 5'7" in an era when the average Frenchman born in 1770 was probably around 5'5." And we're getting a little far afield here, but during that same time period, the American Plains Indians were probably the tallest people in the world (an average of around 5'10") because of the abundant protein in their diet from buffalo.

Having said that, I don't think the dad/1B coach on our team has what we'd refer to as a Napoleon Syndrome (trying to compensate for shortness by being aggressive). I do think he is narcissistic and thinks entirely too highly of his own abilities as a coach. Hopefully HC will knock him down a couple of notches.

To begin, I am a Clemson fan, High 5 hehehe.

Had a similar situation on DD's senior high school team. Distraught because of the senior year and all the excitement about that but we determined not to let one bad coach destroy 12 years of joy.

We used the situation as a teaching moment. We were invested financially and emotionally in the team and situation (probably had fewer options since it was school ball). We encouraged our dd to talk to us first whenever she had a complaint about her team/coach. We talked to her about it, what she was taught vs. what she should do. We tried to keep our dd positive and reminded her that you will encounter folks like this in every place in life, school, job, etc. We had her stick it out and made the most of it with her to the best of our ability. Still some frustration and aggravation.

We had discussions with the HC but decided not to push things with other parents. Mutiny at this point would not help anything. DD now has fond memories of HS ball instead of regrets and residual anger.

I love the game but I love my dd more. My job was to use her situation to help maker her better as a person as much as a player. That was our take on it and it worked for us. Good luck, it's not a good situation but you seem like a level headed guy who loves his girl so I think you'll do what's best.

Go Tigers!

Exactly! There's a lot of Jack-Wagon coaches/parents out there but there's good ones too....parents with this ^^^^ mindset develop better athletes, students, and over all good citizens. I wish more had this mindset and counseled their kids this way!

We're a baseball/equestrian/bass fishing school now.

Go Cocks!

edit - and softball - Bev Smith has taken our program to the next level.

My Tigers will have a softball team next year so hopefully there will be some in-state competition. Hard to compete with SEC softball right now, only Florida State in the ACC in in the vicinity.

The bass fishing, now there's a sport! Good luck with your daughter, she's your #1 here.
