I was looking up a HS rule and ran into the drone section.

Paraphrase no drones allowed at tournaments unless media with TD approval.

Beats me how they can control or enforce this. Drone in air stop the game.

Curious if anyone has used a drone to tape a game. Does it cause trouble? Is the footage worth anything?

I've done it once. Permission granted from TD, umpires and both HC's. I went in just inside the fence between innings. The footage was not worth the effort... I think a couple GoPro's mounted using LynkSpyders on the fence is a better way to record games.

Here's a short clip I did for a local complex when I first got into it. Not very smooth, but it worked for their needs:

Ken- My B.I.L and I received drones for Xmas- under $100. BIL calls it a fancy toy. Your footage, even tho it was brief, was very good. if i may, what ballpark price range is a drone like that?

$700 for a basic setup (DJI Phantom clone-ish.) More with extra batteries, hard case and insurance.

DJI is the standard by which all others are judged by:

In Chicago it is illegal to weaponize a drone, I agree with that one. :)

When the operator of drone can be miles away I have not idea how they can control it.

Good to hear no one has had any Issues yet at softball games.
