Thank you all- great info here! Armed with a little more info now I think we can ask better questions!
I checked out Ania Williams blog and it was excellent but a sad story- like Kenzie fowlers was a sad story. If DD has a problem like that, im hopeful that she can at least okay other positions.
Thanks again!
On another note- access via Tapatalk seems to work but I can't see photos except for the ones in the ads- but at least I can get on!

DD’s teammates hand she said ignore the pinky lol.... the different thing is that it is her glove hand and not throwing hand.

Edit: after speaking to the young lady she has had 2 surgeries for the issue with no luck.... the first one was to remove the small muscle that was written of earlier and the second was to do something to do with the rib.

That pinky is distracting for sure- coloration looks very much like what I saw but was temporary, literally changing before my eyes.
Also, I need to check again but her pinky and ring fingers on the same hand would twitch outward when she would make a fist and then open it to extend her fingers. Those fingers would extnd with the others and then jump a little further.

This has been a great deal of help-Thanks everybody!

In the "Enjoy It While You Can" department- I went with DD to her teams batting practice last night. She looked great and was pounding the crap out of the ball! After the 1.5 hr practice was over, her chest and ribs were in a lot of pain and she was icing on the ride home. You never realize how much you can enjoy something as simple as watching BP until there's a very real chance that those days are numbered.

DD hasn't been able to throw much due to her chest problem, but we have started throwing a lttle bit the last couple of weeks. Last weekend after casually playing catch and starting to pitch easily, DD called me over because her arm had become numb from the elbow to hand and her hand was turning purple. I looked at it and I swear it looked all bruised/purple and was changing color as I looked at it! The purple had started to fade when I got the idea to take a picture.View attachment 12525
Something similar happened a few weeks ago after hitting. This time, Her whole metatarsal and the knuckles of her fingers on her right hand were purple. Has this sort of thing happened to any of your DDs? Is it indicative of a problem?
We're going to see a neurologist at the end of the month re: her continued chest/rib pain, so I'll be asking then. I just didn't know if this was nit uncommon in pitchers. Also, it wasn't cold here, she was wearing a tee shirt because she was getting hot.

Have her tested for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS). It can be both neurogenic or vascular. Patient symptoms are the same.

The Thorasic outlet syndrome is when the nerves and blood vessels get pinched between the Scalene muscle and the 1st rib or extra rib as it's sometimes called. The pain and weakness happen when your arms are stretched out in front of you or put over your head. I've had a T.O.S surgery on both sides.

It is something she had at birth and it is both pinky fingers.

Believe it or not, that makes me feel better- I could not see how a broken pinky could wind up healing so badly.

This past weekend, we discovered an electrical stimlation machine that is marketed as a pain relief alternative to pharmaceutical :e-Pulse ultra 1600.
DD tried it at the softball convention and the pain relief began immediately! It isn't curing the problem but it is providing pain rlief that nothing else could. Plus it enables her to get to sleep and sleep through the night! I never would've believed it if I hadn't witnessed the change first hand!
