Can anyone explain why LL rules don't require a pitcher to start their motion with both feet on the pitching rubber? Never really noticed it until last night. Pretty sure all other forms of FP require both feet touching the pitching rubber at the start of the pitch.

I looked up the rule and it is vague stating "the pivot foot" must be on the rubber while not mentioning the other foot. Just seems weird to teach it the wrong way.

10U BTW.

It is easier to pitch when you drop your foot back or start with it back.

As riseball mentioned it makes it easier to incorporate new pitchers.

Little disagreement on this but if they compete in any games that requires them to keep thier feet on the plate, they should always keep thier feet on plate even though it allowed.

Interesting, wouldn't think that it would make it easier to throw the ball that way. Plus something that needs to get fixed if you want to move on.

Thanks for the insight.

It is easier for sure, gets your wieght back to then bring forward.

What you said is why you will see some pitchers do it and others not.
