DD needs new batting gloves every season, it is a must.

I have never seen her put them on outside the store when we bought them.

Not my DD, and not softball, but the DD of a friend had a weird quirk he found out from reading the newspaper.

His DD was an absolute star runner in HS. One of the top 20 in the US by her junior year. She ran distance. Cross country, 3200 m, 1600, 800 was her sprint distance.

She got a full ride to Wisconsin, CC in the fall, indoor track in the winter, outdoor track in the spring. Senior year she set several U Wisconsin records, was second team all-American.

Anyway, in HS she had her lucky shoes for races. Her father was a real hands-on parent. He rode his bike with her while she trained, he went to all her races, but somehow he never noticed her lucky shoes.
After a while, the shoes were held together by duct tape (her father is one of two people I have ever known who made his own wallet out of duct tape, the other being my DS, so I guess use of duct tape ran in the family, so to speak).
That meant, this girl was winning HS race after race with shoes that were finally more duct tape than actual shoe.

There was a local sports reporter who followed her career, and wrote about her lucky shoes in the newspaper. Seriously, that is how her father found out about it.

Her father made her get a new pair of shoes.

Yeah, dd has one really weird quirk that we call "grampa". Grampa has taken it upon himself to by dd's agent and hype man, sending emails to powerhouse SEC schools that we, her parents, know she has no chance of playing for promoting dd (I hope they never actually made it to the coach). His backup plan is a D2 school where he does happen to know the coach from coaching her and dw when they were little girls. It was hilarious to read some of the emails he sent her, if dd and dw drove by a well known softball school then that school was actively recruiting her according to grampa and if dd actually talked to or communicated by email with a college coach then this D2 coach better get on the ball cause she's going to get offered a full ride by them.

Even though he often makes me cringe on some level I'm going to miss his antics when my dd is done with softball.

My DD ties the laces on her cleats boa-constrictor tight, and then whines after the practice/game that her feet hurt. I tell her of course NOT to tie them so tight, but she says she worried "they're gonna fly off" while she's running if she doesn't.

She's about as fast as a turtle, so that seems exceedingly unlikely to me, but what do I know...

You can tell your DD that our turtle-slow player (not my DD, the other one on the team) can't keep her cleats tied, and she has not had one fly off her foot yet.

DD hates change in anything...black pair of pants are ripped, so she wears black sliding shorts so no one can tell. Her Miken Freak bat got busted in a game and she wants me to get her another exact bat. I could go on and on.
