Pitching coach called me tonight and thanked me for allowing DD to start catching her at lessons. Said it was going to be a tool for both of them and especially the pitcher to see the strike zone better.
8U here in Arkansas they use either a USSSA or the ASA approved 11" softball, it's the same as the big ball just smaller to fit there hand.
They need to get into using the standard ball quickly as possible, IMO it would be dangerous to switch them at 10 when the kids hit and throw harder. The...
So my DD is a 12u player that has caught both 12 and 14u for pitchers that all have 55-63 mph fastballs so the dads say. I take her tonight for her pitching lesson and the instructor asks if she has her gear with her tonight. DD says yea and he tells her to strap up. She climbs in and squats...
DD wants to go so our team from Arkansas will get registered soon I'm guessing. Both her grandparents live not far from there and this would be their only chance to ever see her play.
I agree turf Ringors is the way to go with the pitching toe. I would stay away from 3n2 if you shop around DD has a pair wore them maybe twice and hates the fit.
DD is 12 4-11" and around 113 she uses schutt scorpion gear and they do not cover the toe.
She has an Adult size helmet small head lots of hair lol. Alot has to do with the adjustment of the straps it takes a little work to get her line of site where she wants it the first time then it's good...
We let the kids get in the position they are most comfortable, some like the rocker some like the sprinter position with their rear foot on the bag, DD likes to be in a sprint poisiton with her power leg on the the bag and using it as a start block. This puts her back a few feet further than...
Quincy,
I just happen to umpire around here and know alot of umpires that call the same way. If a girl jumps out of the box on a pitch that had no chance of hitting her wasn't in the dirt or over my head it's a strike. Pitchers are always going to get the benefit of the doubt and hitters have...
I would rather take the strike out than swing at bad pitches but when you learn the umpires you will know what they like and can tell the batters what adjustments to make. Usually if they like them low the high pitches are called balls that should be strikes and vice versa.
I can tell you alot...
My DD has attended lots of college camps where she stood right next to college players. D1 schools, Memphis, Arkanasa, Miss State, Tennessee, etc. She is barely 4-11 if alot of those girls are listed at 5-4 or above it was in high heels and standing on a stack of books.
All college stats get...
I would say it's hands down the Vinci is the best mitt on the market if you play serious travel ball. I have used almost every mitt made like it the best. I personally play with a 1b mitt they make and love it.
Caseys' contact number is 229-224-0759 let him know I told you to call and he will...
OK Vinci weighed in on my food scale at 1.56 pounds, Worth liberty wieghed in at 1.62 pounds Nokona CM275 wieghed 1.52. The only Mizuno I have is a small 8u BB mitt and it wieghed 1.44 pounds.
I wouldn't necessarily say it is keeps the hand cooler it is a very heavy built glove. I can tell you...
The Vinci has a velcro strap and should fit her hand just fine. The fastpitch models are designed just for young women and fit very well. My DD is less than 5 foot tall and has no problem with the glove.
I have a contact phone number for Casey Howell I can give you if you PM me.
