OMG joemcq51. I pray for you. I took off about 9-10 years too. Now back in the mix, I really want out. I've never seen so many breast-feeding parents. They make excuses for their kid, do all the talking for them, constantly disrespect and disagree with the coaches about the most stupid...
That would be my RED button. I've produced championship teams and some great players in my time. But if I EVER heard that come out of one of my girls, or boys when in baseball, I would have sent them packing right then. I don't need any of them, but there ARE 8 others on the the field that DO...
I agree that everybody should always be cautious. But my first impression from reading it was its a coach that is putting responsibility on the player. They are to tell the parent which uniform is being worn this saturday or that practice time was changed etc. However, any coach that really...
3'sdad. SO many coaches around here WANT to say that to alot of kids and parents, but they can't. There are SO many teams here that parents get their feelings hurt, mommy or daddy storm off and start their own team to do it their way. I can't count the number of teams advertising they have...
Slugger, once again you spew intelligence. 8s - 14s, Dads / Moms get them off to a good start, then if they are still into it, let them fly with someone else. I did, and I've been coaching long before DD was born. Now, just helping keep score and watching her grow. Our 10 - 14s experience...
Hi Wallly. While reading your post, I thought it was my post or you were talking about my DD. Thank god my kid hasn't teamed up with your kid... They'd be dangerous together. Haha. First of all. Not sure how regular you are in here, but I have to say that Amy and sluggers, in my opinion, are...
Ooops, sorry. its 1.81. Hit the wrong key and didn't catch that. That was measured two weekends ago at Colorado State University (CSU) Softball camp by the coach. She also hit 1.83, 1.84, 1.84, 1.84 for the 5 times. Dear daddy here wasn't doing the timing either. We timed her pops in...
Its great to hear others thinking the way we do. My DD is a pitcher. Not the team speed pitcher, but is the movement pitcher. But, she is the lead catcher and is an absolute KILLER behind the plate. Lots of girls have done that. But going along with the conversations about base running, she...
You all are really "getting it." Good for you.. NO Daddy ball. I've coached alot, and went to the highest levels several years ago in 16s and 18s Rec. Awesome times and had NO kids period at that time. Took a long coaching break, and got back into it a few years ago and loved it even more...
Hi all. I've never understood the metal vs plastic cleats thing. Why DO boys get to wear them in baseball at much younger ages? I have looked and studied both types of cleats. Metal cleats, the corners of each cleat is smooth and actually rounded. Plastic molded cleats have pointier (sp?)...
You are right MTR. EVERY single aspect should not have a heirarchy rule on it. Fielding face masks are an option, not a mandate. What gets under my skin, as I and several others have posted, is a parent(s) wishing or wanting their player to wear a fielding mask but say their kid just won't...
Who's On First..... Great Questions. This is what I do, but I have to tell you I have a real GEEK for a DD with her pitching. She is all about her performance in the circle and behind the plate as a catcher. So, she has me take pitching stats for herself. I am her pitching coach, use to be...
Reviving an old post here. I see the same thing all the time and it just infuriates me. When I was coaching walking or even a lazy jog was not allowed. Not because I'm a jerk and what I say goes. It was for the "wake up factor". I am a BIG advocate of Dynamic warmups etc. I made it clear...
I have a few words for everyone that has a politically correct issue about MAKING your kid wear a face mask. If you WANT or WISH your kid to wear one, tell them to shut up and wear one, because you are the parent, in charge and pay all medical bills, or THEY DON'T PLAY. Plain and simple. If...
I just want to see some good baseball. I love Lincecum, and love the Rangers. Nothing beats my dear Rockies though. (except the scoreboard) Wish they were in it. I don't care who plays really. Its the World Series. WooooooHoooooo...
druer.... you are absolutely correct. We play with that all the time and do everything to tone her down as best we can. She is an absolute softball NUT. She pushes SO hard because she saw the college girls play at the ASA stadium two seasons ago and prays at night to be good enough to be...
GOINGDEEP... It's only illegal if ya get caught. What are they going to do.... Haha. You are SO right. Not sure where you are, but I can name 20 teams EASY around here that do the same thing. And two college teams. Rule or not, its not getting an inside edge, its getting a perspective on...
Our DD played on two teams last season. Her main team traveled and played big tourneys but had alot of off weekends in between and was ASA and Triple Crown. Her other team was strictly USSSA and stayed very local. She's a pitcher and catcher and got to play alot of softball.
That was kind of my thinking as well. Those idiots. However, he has a point, for 6 or 8 batting plays, I'd tell my DD to get a clue as well. My DD has about 18 or so cards for her wrist band for the majority of the teams she faces around here and makes more the best she can during out of...
