goofy pitching rules!
Back in the day, our local rec league had a rule of 4-walks then change to coach pitch. Normal rules until the 4th batter got walked, then normal coach pitch rules. Everyone seemed okay with that format.- Glipski

Who should call the pitches the coach, dad, or catcher?????
Not sure how it works on your team, but typically the coach sends the calls in to the pitcher through the catcher. The catcher only relays the calls to the pitcher.- Glipski

Proper way to address the umpires?
Seems like some of the tournaments we play, they actually are :) friends, cousins, uncles, grandpa, etc...actually heard one of the little girls call the umpire "Pappy". We lost that game...- Glipski

Proper way to address the umpires?
I was taught to say "Mr. Umpire". Now I usually say, "Hey, stupid! Are you frikkin' blind?!? Need my glasses, cause yours sure ain't workin'!" Somehow, I don't get the same response as when I was a kid. Wonder what changed?- Glipski

Daughter looks like a superstar in the cage or during live batting practice,but when she gets in a game situation, she wants to stop her swing just after contacting the ball. It's baffling to me and since she does so well in practice, I don't know a drill to help her. She almost never strikes...- Glipski

Best way to "politely" bring this up to the softball board?
Everyone needs to remember this part of the original post. They approached the OP, not the other way around. Sounds like it happened during signups for rec ball, not travel and they were asked to try out for travel, correct? Maybe it was just for a tryout, but that apparently didn't happen, so I...- Glipski

Comment on Division I Tournament Pitchers
Obviously they all have flaws in their mechanics, we all see because we know what to look for. The thing is- they've found ways around what they do "wrong" (in quotes because it's only wrong to us). Look at golf, baseball, football, any sport. Nobody is perfect at any thing, even Woods in golf...- Glipski

What's the going rate for a PC where you are?
Amy, move over to the Yellowhammer state. More precisely, the Southeast part of the state where I am. You can find lots of work here. The coach my DD goes to has a waiting list. If a WOMAN were to show up and start giving lessons, she would do well. You can even stay in our guest bedroom...- Glipski

What's the going rate for a PC where you are?
Most of our local coaches here charge $25-$30 for 45 minutes. Not sure how Amy handles it, but here they stack 'em in like cordwood (that's firewood for you yankees reading this)...the coaches work with 3-4 girls at once. I personally think it sucks, one-on-one is the way to go, but I can't seem...- Glipski

The PC is exaggerating my niece's speed.
...they throw rocks and scream curses at you all the way out of earshot on the way back to Houston. Then email you and tell you the same thing. Then, to make it even worse, they tell dear old Uncle Bill and he cusses you out. Even Aunt Sally Mae gets involved. You're right, stay out of it.- Glipski

Proper way to discuss a matter with the coach
Imagine your girlfriend pointing and giggling when you show her what you got. I would imagine to a young pitcher being told that she stinks it's about the same feeling.
