    How big of an issue is this actually? How has it directly affected you? Do you believe that all female sports will be completely taken over by this? It's part of the silly culture war that we rage daily.

    To be honest i'd shoot somewhere down the middle. You don't learn a ton or improve a ton on the bench.     First thing that should be taken into consideration is your DD's major. Softball is a silly game that comes to an end for 99.999% of all players at the end of college.

    Slap Hitters

    It's funny my DD works hard and can put the ball where ever. When ever they shift against her like that she will pull the ball. Couple of inside the parks this way but usually a standup triple.

    My DD is a slapper, and when i see 3rd base move in, i have to look away. She can put the ball over the fence slapping. She's blown up a couple of kids over the years thinking they were going to get a dinky poke dropped in front of them.

    I've always found it ironic that with all the training my DD has done for softball over the years that you go to a tourny and their sampling is hamburgers, hot dogs, and cheese fries. Oh and one bruised apple in the corner. edit: DD is a vegetarian so always bring our own food.

    How much responsibility does a high school coach have in the recruiting process now?

    Anyone that can help is a bonus. But as said before it's the parents and the athlete that will really be the determining factor in the long run. Do not rely on other people though, i've found that adults are very disappointing a lot of the time.

    Should do what makes your DD happy. One thing i'll stress though is you are not going to find many club teams that will let a starting pitcher also play SS. Especially not for a more competitive team. End of the day it's your dollar, spend it how you will.
